What Is life Without Passion?

Introduction

We all love doing something, especially when we are good at it. When we were kids, we all had activities we preferred because it is what we want to be when we grow up. We love to sing or dance. We even love to love people and to make friends.

However, this love does not live up to what is called “passion”. Passion is so much more than that; it is an intense and uncontrollable emotion towards something. You are very drawn to it since the same makes you feel alive, as it ignites some fire inside of you.

People say that we must have passion in life and we must pursue what that passion is. Nevertheless, that is not a walk in the park owing to the fact that not everyone has the opportunity to follow what one’s heart desires.

Some are breadwinners, while others are just not lucky. Sometimes, even if we are passionate about something, it does not necessarily follow that our lives are geared towards it.

Moreover, as this cruel world starts to show itself and continues to hurt us with all the circumstances and happenings around, we start to lose some of our dreams, our love  and passion over a thing.

It made us want to be alone, cold-hearted, and stoic to the point of living an emotionless life. It is not bad because some can survive that but it takes a toll on our psychological disposition.

Can a person live without passion?

A person can live without passion but it is never “living”. To live as a human being means being able to do what he wants, to achieve his long-term goals, and to dream about what his desires are.

Living life to the fullest should enable a person to experience the best possible outcomes in life or to take the road beyond an individual’s wildest imaginations.

Passion, as cliché as it may sound, is an essential element that will make our existence worth indulging, whereas the absence of passion in a person’s life will only make him live in a world with straight roads and grasslands, short of saying barren.

It is just getting a beer instead of drinking champagne at a victory party, or not having a victory party at all. They go on with their lives lacking emotions such as excitement, happiness, sadness, fear, anxiety, anger, empathy, intense desire and other similar mindset.

As the time passes by, that person will start to question his purpose in a world  where his passion and circumstances cannot even seem to meet.

Passion is great but the feeling of not satisfying the same will affect how you think about yourself.

It will create a void or a vacuum in you which will continue to grow should you never be able to pursue your passion

Living without passion is like being dead

It is true that a person living without passion is like being dead because passion feeds our body like blood. It runs through our veins, and it helps our heart pump.

Without blood, our body becomes pale and colorless. A person living without passion feels dead since he has no interest in flourishing and going on.

He knows that progress feels like living in the underworld, wherein darkness, sadness, and hatred are constant and extant. A person continuously tries to escape his reality but there is nowhere to run or hide from the living nightmare.

He will find himself relentlessly sprinting only to find out that he is running on a treadmill.

Moreover, considering oneself as dead signifies that he already accepted that he is in the endgame, and he resides in the losing team.

Even though he can use the presence of passion to win, he lost such a chance. Hence, the chance of turning the tables is already gone, may be a lost opportunity.

However, some people often become used to living without passion. They simply have no choice. They are like people that are declared brain dead but they are only alive because of machines.

Machines represent our respective reasons why we just could give up, a straight jacket so to speak. It could be our families or friends.

The idea that they depend on you keeps you going but without them, you will be lost but not moving.

Is it typical not to have passion for anything?

If not all, at least most people have passions in life, so, it is atypical not to have passion, even for the little things that matter.

Passion can either bring good results especially if it is meant for you, coupled with working hard for it or even harnessing such feeling and translating it to a task.

It can also bring danger not only to your own life but also that of others because it takes a good amount of determination and desire to satisfy such passion which can make an individual do anything for it.

Nonetheless, it is possible that a person does not have a passion for anything despite her/his claim of it. We tend, also, to confuse passion with habit as when we say that “I love reading books so I am passionate about it”.

That is not passion, because the fondness you have with books is merely created by your habit.

Passion is deeper and it takes time to find it. You have to assess yourself. What is that thing which you think that if left unfulfilled will make you feel incomplete.

If you were able to answer it, without any qualifications, then you have found what you are most, or will be, passionate about.

How do you justify a life without passion? Can you be successful without passion?

Although life can be very dull without passion, an individual may still be successful without it. Some say that passion is overrated because there is more to life than pursuing your passion.

They are correct to some extent because we have to remember that every bit of life and the moments and events composing it are what makes life complete.

Passion just helps us feel a certain emotion over a particular thing but it should not take up your whole life. It should not fully occupy your psyche, lest obsession will be the result.

There are people who are unable to fulfill their passion because of family and financial circumstances but they are still well-off in life.

They fill the void caused by disregarding passion with motivation and determination. Having in mind that someone is dependent on them, so they cannot give up anytime soon, can satisfy the gap.

This only goes to show that, despite the absence of passion, one can still go on with their existence and even be the version of themselves that they do not expect to be.

Is passion important in life?

Despite the seeming importance of passion as detailed above, life can still move forward even sans passion. Yes, it is important because it makes you feel some type of enormity, such as being elated and fired up.

Nevertheless, its absence does not mean that life will be meaningless because individuals are capable of rising above their problems, and even becoming the best of themselves through determination and priorities.

Life without passion is still life, albeit, it is black and white. Nevertheless, find some ways to give it a pop of color. Do not let passion limit your capabilities. Rainbows may exist at the same time, in different places.

If the other rainbow seems faint, go look out for which shows the richest colors. What you can do to make your life better is like those rainbows are. You can have passion on one hand and love for something on the other.

If your passion does not work for you, focus on that thing which you love doing. Eventually, you may become passionate about it, and it could be the thing which will go your way.

Closing

Passion can be manipulative of how your life will go on. The good thing is, life has its way to balance things around because people are innately creative.

If we are not able to get exactly what we want, we will look for ways to somehow mitigate the effect that it has on our willingness to move forward.

We have to make choices and along the way we will lose some. Nevertheless, it is a stepping stone to reboot and rethink your life choices.

Start small by doing things which make you happy. Cook something, watch a good movie, read an interesting book, or even crochet a cute top.

Feed your soul with happiness. If ever you have come across something which consumes your time and you are not even bothered about it, congratulations, you have found your passion.

Do not let it slip your grasp, instead, nurture it. If you have the opportunity to chase it, do so. You are one of the few people fortunate enough to do something you love.
