You may ask, is listening to music a hobby? Maybe the answer to this is not standard as it seems to be. Why? Let us examine. Listening to music may be both a hobby or just leisure time consumption.
I think that for most of us, we all do listen to songs, sounds, and tunes just to entertain, relax, or calm ourselves. Also, we hear music just to get by.
However, for an artist, I should say that music is a hobby, likewise. A musical artist not just listens, but also, he creates a musical piece over and over again.
He listens as a hobby because he wants to be inspired. He likes his sounds–that he will make–to be an inspiration not only for him but for his audience as well.
One caveat, I write this short article on the basis of my experience. This is what I think about the topic, anchored on what I am continuously and constantly learning in the course of making my hobby better, which is creating melodies.
This conclusion, of course, may be different from, and for, others.

As I briefly discussed the difference above [for my point of view], music will manifest as a hobby if the proponent seeks to utilize such interest to create music, share it to his audience [his own decision], and inspire himself and his listeners.
I say this because we indeed love music, and it is the one common passion for us mankind that can be a unifying factor, despite cultural, racial, and geographical differences.
Nonetheless, considering it as such on the other hand, will reveal specificity of craft, not just enjoying one’s leisure time. I, for one, do this, and make listening to music my hobby too, in order to author one. It becomes my regular activity and routine.
A hobby is considered to be a regular activity that is done for enjoyment, typically during one’s leisure time.
